Who we are...

Since 1927, the French Society of Automotive Engineers (SIA) brings together all the specialists and enthusiasts of the automotive industry and its technologies: Car and Component Manufacturers, Engineering consultancies, Start-ups, SME-SMI, Precompetitive R&D clusters, Universities and Research Centres. Typical of any learned society, the SIA's goal is to encourage the development and knowledge sharing by engineers, managers and technicians of French or French-based companies and major groups in the automotive sector and mobility of the future.

A 24-member Board of Directors made up from car manufacturers, components manufacturers and engineering firms, each with high value-added R&D in France, but also highly qualified freelance specialists or representatives of the industry’s major organisations.

A programme of specific activities

Company visits, student forums during congresses, to discover the automotive companies and the internship or job opportunities they offer and to meet their engineers, thus begin to build your network.

Annual meetings

between students and the automotive industry, in the MonJob@FuturAuto event in Paris and the major regional capitals, designed to develop connections between the two parties and to describe the transformations in the automotive sector, together with the exceptional adventure for a young engineer in the automobile of tomorrow.

Our Expert Communities

From product to production engineering

The SIA relies on its ECs (Expert Communities), which cover all the research, innovation and new technology fields in product engineering as well as quality, purchasing and production in the automotive world.
Every Community comprises some of the best experts in France in their fields and capitalises on their technical expertise, in order to reflect on the diverse issues at stake for the automobile’s second revolution, with the vehicle of the 21st century in their line of sight and the profound transformation of mobility.

Each Community participates through its workgroups, in its field of expertise, on developing knowledge, determining common positions on the technologies of tomorrow, preparing the skills of tomorrow and holding international meetings (congresses, study days and workshops).

THE SIA IN THE
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

In France

The SIA participates actively in the French automobile sector with the main professional automobile organisations (CCFA for the car manufacturers or FIEV for the component manufacturers), competitiveness clusters and institutes.

In that capacity, it assumes the role of general secretariat of the Automobile Committees and Operational Advice related to new product or production technologies, under the auspices of the PFA (Automobile Platform).
Since the PFA is the organisation of collective interest and the sole platform in the automobile sector whose mission is to consolidate and develop the 4,000 companies, automobile and road transport manufacturers in France, based on a clear vision of the branch's major stakes in terms of innovation, regulations, norms and standards, industrial competitiveness, skills and jobs.

Representative of the French automobile industry abroad

Member of FISITA (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés des Ingénieurs de l’Automobile) and EAEC (European Automotive Engineers Cooperation) and organiser of different world congresses.

This represents more than 190,000 automotive engineers affiliated to national associations, spread over 36 countries.
