Further improvements in the fuel efficiency of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles are necessary to prevent global warming and to allow more effective use of resources.
This market requires that every new generation of power module has higher efficiency, downsizing and weight reduction. To meet this trend, Fuji Electric has developed three new power module technologies: modules that allow continuous operation at 175°C, a design approach for an aluminum radiator with a structure capable of direct liquid cooling, and an RC-IGBT chip integrating the IGBT and the FWD into one chip with small size and low losses. The 3rd generation power module for the automotive market, the 6MBI800XV-070V-01 (M653), was developed with these new technologies.
