PSA is developing a new type of hybrid: hybrid air, based on the oleo-pneumatic technology. The hybrid air target is to reach the best hybrid electric CO2 emissions level, at a lower price and by using components which can be easily recycled and repaired. This paper will describe the hybrid air behaviour and how it is sized. The main topic is to compare the hybrid air torque, power and energy with those available on hybrid electric vehicles.
