Electrically driven compressor also known as E-compressor or E-booster is one solution to compensate the turbo-lag on a turbocharged engine. This paper deals with the development of such a device and its effect on the engine. Target for this design will be a pressure ratio of 1.3 within 300ms. The electromagnetic motor structure used for this development and adapted to high speed will be shown as well as its optimization process. Results of the measurements of this e-booster will be presented and analyzed. These measurements will range from the motor itself to the e-booster impact on the engine. Indeed, on-engine test may help to better apprehend the impact of such a system on a real engine. The good agreement between measurements and simulation will be shown as well as the improvement obtained by the e-booster on the engine performances.
