Constrained layer damping can provide substantial advantages over current damping treatments with respect to reduced weight, space efficiency, and improved damping performance. The paper discusses the design considerations of the constrained layer damping applications on steel and aluminium parts. The paper compares the sound transmission loss performances of these twoconstructions using the traditional two-microphone sound intensity probe and the pressure-particle velocity sound intensity probe. Finally, the paper discusses the advantages and limitations of both measurement methods.
