The paper presents a rigorous method enabling a simplification of transfer path analysis for the numerical models with very large number of interface dof. This method is based on the excitation vector projection on specifically designed vectors, which give a physical meaning to the results. The methodology can be applied to different computation domains.
The described method enables a separation of excitation and transfer phenomena, even for the models with the high number of dof,.
In the present paper we will focus on the case of the interface between the crank-train and the engine block.
In the example, presented in the paper, the excitation generation mechanisms become quite obvious as well as the influent parameters.
The main limitation of the method is the model accuracy.
The method is of a great help when understanding and improving the defaults of the model are considered.
