Cooperating towards AI‑Defined Vehicles

The transition towards Software‑Defined Vehicles (SDV) continues to reshape vehicle electrical and electronic (E/E) architectures, software platforms, data usage, and development processes, but also with challenges about sustainability.
The increasing use of artificial intelligence across vehicle functions, engineering activities, and operational services is accelerating this transformation and raises new technical, industrial, cybersecurity, and regulatory challenges.

This congress addresses the evolution towards AI‑Defined Vehicles (AiDV), with a focus on cooperation across the automotive ecosystem, covering both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

Technical Sessions and Topics

 

Session 1 - Software & Cybersecurity

This session covers software architectures, development approaches, and cybersecurity challenges introduced by SDV and AI.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Software architectures for SDV and AiDV
    (service‑oriented architectures, middleware, abstraction layers)

  • Cooperation models and shared software platforms

  • Cybersecurity in the context of AI:

    • AI‑based development and validation tools

    • AI‑related attack surfaces in vehicles

  • Secure OTA strategies and lifecycle management

  • Cybersecurity compliance and regulations
    (e.g. UNECE R155/R156) / Safety SOTIF & ADAS application

  • Speed of development versus robustness and security

  • Software‑driven business approaches and value creation

 

Session 2 - Hardware & Safety

This session focuses on the evolution of E/E architectures, hardware platforms, and safety concepts supporting SDV and automated driving.

Topics include:

  • Evolution of E/E architectures:

    • Zonal, centralized, and hybrid approaches

    • Migration from legacy architectures

  • ADAS up to Level 2++ and transition towards Level 4 automation

  • Safety architectures for AI‑based functions

  • Hardware platforms for SDV:

    • High‑performance computing

    • Chiplets and heterogeneous architectures

  • Cost reduction strategies for SDV and E/E architectures, cost reduction and eco-design for sustainability and circular economy

  • Functional safety and compliance evolution

  • Specific challenges for commercial vehicles

 

Session 3 - Data & AI

This session addresses data and artificial intelligence across the vehicle lifecycle, from engineering to operation.

Topics include:

  • AI for engineering:

    • Architecture design

    • Verification and validation

    • Toolchains and optimisation for sustainability

  • AI model training, deployment, and lifecycle management

  • Data strategies for SDV:

    • Data governance and reuse

    • Data sharing in a European context

  • Cloud‑edge data architectures

  • Regulatory aspects related to data and AI, and safety approach
    (EU and other regions)

  • Data‑ and AI‑driven business models

  • Synergies between passenger cars and commercial vehicles

IMPORTANT INFORMATION & DEADLINES

Speakers will be allocated 30 minutes each (25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions). 
All necessary instructions for the preparation of the paper will be sent to the authors after selection. 
The lead author (one per paper) will receive free access to the conference and meals, 2 co-authors max will benefit from a discount.

·        Conference language: ENGLISH

·        Proposals for papers must reach us by September 15th, 2026.

·        The successful papers will be selected by the Committees and authors will be notified accordingly by November 2026.

·        Successful authors commit themselves to produce a Full Paper (6-8 pages) by January 15th, 2027 for inclusion in the conference proceedings.

·        Presentation must be sent to the SIA by January 27th 2027.
