Powertrain 2026

The rapid transformation of the automotive industry to greenhouse gas free mobility is being challenged. Customers are hesitating between full ICE, hybrid and full electric ones. Despite initial steps in passenger cars, current full electric powertrains struggle to meet the requirements of all vehicle segments. Costs of such vehicles is still far above any equivalent conventional powertrain.

The European Commission integrates flexibility: powertrain technology choices will be reassessed for application in 2035 and beyond. Other regions in the world have their own roadmap to sustainable mobility.

How to meet driver’s needs for all types of vehicles? How to make zero emission vehicles affordable for all market segments? How to ensure European production competitiveness and sovereignty? How to reinforce sustainability in the automotive sector?

Energy distribution and storage as well as powertrain technologies are key enablers to meet these goals for all types of mobility.

It is the role of the powertrain engineering community to find new solutions to reduce the CO2 footprint of transportation and mobility. It has the challenge to develop the corresponding powertrains and maximise their efficiency while keeping the initial costs under control. All elements of the life cycle of the powertrain are to be considered.

The 38th SIA POWERTRAIN conference will address the full spectrum of all drivetrain technologies for applications ranging from short range small urban mobility up to long range commercial and off-road vehicles. This includes papers on powertrain themes such as batteries and systems, hydrogen powertrains, hybrids, low carbon fuels, electrified powertrains, power electronics, energy distribution and sustainability.

The SIA POWERTRAIN conference is recognized by automotive stakeholders as an exceptional and unique technical event. International OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, Engineering Companies and many more will share their latest technologies, projects and results.

This edition, once again will be held in Lille in France. Lille is located nearby numerous new plants, development centers and initiatives taken by the automotive industry to support these new powertrains. The conference will take place in the city center and provides plenty of opportunity to have a drink and continue exchanging with your peers before and after the conference days.

After the very successful previous editions in Paris and Lille, with more than 500 participants each, we invite you to join us on this new adventure in Lille.

Call for democars

Showcase your innovations where technology meets reality!

As part of Powertrain 2026, we are offering companies the opportunity to display their demo cars (static and dynamic) throughout the two days of the event. These vehicles allow attendees to experience technologies firsthand and bring your R&D achievements to life.

In 2025, over ten demo cars were presented, attracting strong attention from attendees and providing excellent visibility to the exhibiting teams.

Participation is free of charge, but indoor spaces are limited — so don’t miss your chance to highlight your latest developments in a unique and inspiring environment.

Submit your demo car proposal now and take part in one of the most dynamic and forward-looking showcases of automotive innovation!
