The paper demonstrates the development and practical validation approach of an electric drive able to fit with a Motorsport application targeting high frequency and high power PMSM drive. The solution is applied to a Heat Energy Recovery System, which couples a PMSM with an ICE exhaust turbine, in order to achieve a power unit significant increase of efficiency. The use of SiC MOSFET wide band gap semiconductors demonstrates multiples advantages in comparison with former technologies in this kind of application.
