The automotive market is evolving from assisted to automated products in order to support the driver and to increase the safety on public roads. While the legal situation for high automation still has to be resolved, car manufacturers and suppliers have made huge progress in the development of key technologies and 360° sensing to enable highly automated driving. Suppliers have to prepare themselves on fault-operational and redundancy strategies for their components. Finally, appropriate strategies to validate the automated functions have to be developed.
