Main drivers in Europe for further developments in the passenger segments are currently seen with a challenging CO2 and emission legislation, new test cycles, measuring procedures and demanding requirement in terms of noise reduction and performance.
Bosch FIE is supporting the customers’ Diesel engine development with further improved hydraulic efficiency of the FIE together with the degree of freedom to shape the combustion pressure trace with a digital rate shaping strategy, overcoming the conflicting targets of CO2, emission and noise.
Key enablers are a multiple injection capability with very short hydraulic dwell times, combined with an excellent mixture formation. Broad understanding of the interaction of the different subsystems and their key performance indicators is the base for finding tailored solutions.
