AUTOMOBILE AND RAILROAD COMFORT
Acoustics, Vibrations & Thermal issues
October 21 & 22, 2010
Palais des Congrès – Le Mans, France
The SIA and the CTTM are once again joining forces for the organization of the 6th edition of the Automotive and Railway Comfort congress at the Palais des Congrès du Mans on October 21 and 22, 2010.
The transport industries, and terrestrial transport in particular, are currently experiencing unprecedented change owing to a number of factors:
-
The economic crisis, which has upset markets the world over and has created the prevailing financing difficulties,
-
The need to reduce energy consumptions, both because of cost and resource depletion issues (oil first and foremost), and because of the need to reduce CO2 emissions,
-
The emergence of new markets, of which China is the prime example, seemingly in the process of becoming the world’s number one automotive marketplace.
This is leading vehicle-makers to rethink their products, with a strong focus on the following critical areas:
-
Cost of acquisition and of ownership, new approaches of rendered service, the real benefice for customers,
-
Fuel consumptions, with an unprecedented effort to reduce vehicle weight and optimize powertrains, the key levers being increased efficiencies, fuel management (with hybrids) or the use of alternative energies (electricity),
-
Adaptation to markets, particularly new and emergent markets.
Like the previous editions, this congress will be an opportunity to bring together the leading experts in the field and examine the latest developments in terms of technological solutions and engineering processes applied to the area of comfort in terrestrial transport (automobiles, heavy goods vehicles - HGV’s, motorcycles, trains, etc.). Under the heading of comfort, key domains addressed will be vibration, acoustics and thermics.
In the current context, we will focus on:
-
Powertrain developments (new combustion technologies, downsizing, hybridization, electric propulsion) and associated acoustic and vibration solutions
-
Optimization of vehicles per market & customer targets and according to cost and weight constraints
-
Role of control rules in the management of acoustics
-
Progress in solutions optimization (numerical and experimental tools for diagnostics and CAD)
